Well worth a look. The history is amazing. A representation of what was there is what you see

A historically significant site, having been the largest amphitheatre in the UK. It would have seen use as an entertainment venue and a military training ground in Roman times. The history itself is impressive, but compared to many other Roman sites I've visited, this one seemed a bit lacking. It's reasonably presented but there's little of the structure to see now, and the more modern surrounding buildings make it difficult to envisage how it originally looked. Stop by if you're walking the walls in Chester, but don't expect to stay long.

I could not believe what I saw!! Absolutely nothing. This site could potentially be one of Britain's most historical structures. Maybe not of great importance, but a slice of history nonetheless. Such a shame that the council wish to, and I quote; "leave it undisturbed for future generations". I don't know about you, but I would like to experience the full amphitheatre and uncover it's real treasure. Then and only then the future generation can experience its full potential. But yeah, if you want to see a couple of rocks, it's fantastic:)

The Roman amphitheatre - The construction of amphitheatres ('double theatres') began in southern Italy and followed the spread of Roman rule. Chester's amphitheatre is the biggest known in Britain. It could seat around 7,000 spectators and would have been a powerful symbol of Roman supremacy on the edge of the empire.

Do not go here expecting to see an amphitheatre it's a tiny wall surrounding a pit! Pls restore this to its original condition and stop pretending it's a tourist site!

Nice place not a lot to see. Could be good with a tour guide to provide a bit more information.

Well worth a visit, highly recommended. The Roman gardens and river area are very close.
